When you receive your rug and carefully unroll it, you may notice that waves or creases have formed on the surface. Don't panic! These waves are a result of the stress of rolling and shipping. Lay the rug completely flat and, as the rug settles, the waves will soften and disappear within 2-3 days.
With proper maintenance and care, your seagrass rug will remain beautiful for years. A quality rug pad will extend the life of your rug, keep it in place, and allow breathability. Rotate your rug once a year to avoid excessive wear and sun damage in any one area.
To keep your rug looking its best, vacuum regularly from several different directions, passing over each area several times. Rugs placed in high-traffic areas tend to have heavier soil build-up and need to be vacuumed more often to prolong its life. Occasionally, vacuum the underside too. Vacuuming underneath the rug removes unwanted dirt and build-up accidentally brought inside by feet or paws.
In the event of a spill, use a dry cloth and firmly blot the rug dry (do not rub the liquid). If needed, follow up with a wet rag and blot the rug dry again. For tough stains, you can order replacement squares and a sew kit and replace the affected area.
Rush House rugs are handmade and the fibers may breakdown and shed over time. These natural materials tend to have irregularities, which give the woven rug its unique character. Different characteristics in the weave or shading of your rug are inherent. No two rugs are exactly alike.
