Why do you think this space works so well?
This room is one of my favorites in the apartment. I love a mixture of textures: things pushing and pulling. This room has a bit of shine, a bit of fluff, graphic elements and paired with more organic elements. The room is moody in the evening and presents a warm glow in the morning. I love opposites.
What piece do you think anchors this space?
The wood paneling really sets the tone for this room. It makes everything feel special, and the brass side tables nested in the wall feel more dramatic sprouting from the wood.
What inspired your design of this room?
I’m obsessed with Swiss chalets, especially the heavily wood paneled details. I wanted to keep going and panel everything! The crazy beautiful marble in the bathroom was the complete opposite to the warm natural wood–its bold and dramatic–while the wood paneling gives the room a softness and a sense of calm. I wanted to have my own private Idaho away from the city streets.
